Grant began his musical journey at age four as a classically trained pianist. He quickly developed absolute pitch and demonstrated prodigy-level proficiency at a very young age. One of his judges from the National Federation of Music Clubs mentioned that he was “one of the most gifted musicians she had ever seen” in her career of judging thousands of highly trained classical pianists.
At age nine, Grant’s love for rock music inspired him to pick up the guitar where he quickly rose to a similar level of proficiency. Within a few years, he could play the technical music of guitar legends such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and Eddie Van Halen.
At age ten, Grant began his journey as a professional musician. His first rock band ‘Still Pending’ needed a drummer. Completely self-taught, his skills behind the kit earned him endorsement deals with Mapex Drums and Sabian Cymbals. Still Pending racked up 3.5m views on YouTube, played large venues such as the Crystal Ballroom, and saw national press. At age twelve Cartoon Network flew Still Pending to Los Angeles to record a single with Grammy-Winning producers/engineers Rock Mafia and Ross Hogarth.
The studio environment inspired Grant to purchase his first production rig — an iMac G5 with Pro Tools 7.4 and a Digidesign 002.
After years of honing his self-taught audio and video production skills, he attended University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music where he studied Bass with Alphonso Johnson, popular music performance with 3x Grammy nominated artist Patrice Rushen, and audio engineering with Grammy-Winning engineers/producers such as Ed Cherney and Al Schmitt.
Grant’s musicianship, production and engineering lead him to work with artists such as Remi Wolf, Trousdale and Haleigh Bowers. In 2016 he co-founded the project Fabriq where his productions and bass playing on Electric Flow, Serotonin and Get Behind The Feeling garnered well over a million streams and a Billboard feature.
In 2019 Grant moved to Aspen Colorado where he founded Prezence Music alongside next door neighbor King David James. As a duo, they released several singles and quickly gained a following in the reggae scene. In 2020-2021 they were humbled to share the stage with legends such as Mike Love, Dan Kelly of Fortunate Youth and Zeb of Tribal Seeds.
